"Chechens have been trying to get their independence from Russia for ten years."

Yes, I know all of that. I also know that there were a couple of incidents that the Russian government might have done and then tried to pin the blame on the Chechens (those apartment buildings). Nobody has ever accused the Russians of being Boy Scouts. Just ask anybody of Ukranian decent.

This event doesn't move their chances of becoming independent any closer, just the converse. This attack was stupid. Russia pretty much has carte blanch for anything they want to do, and nobody will make a peep. Because they were deliberately targeting children, they might not even get the support of the Islamic countries, something that otherwise would be automatic. If they think the Russians were nasty before, they ain't seen nothing yet.

The Chechens have given the Russians an excuse for genocide.
