When I lived on Guam, I lived through a typhoon. Same as a hurricane, just a different name. Weird.

Both typhoons and hurricanes are cyclones. That is why the Navy uses that term.

One other quirk .. southern hemisphere
cyclones rotate in the opposite direction
( clockwise ) due to Coriolis Effect ..
