Well, this is a great point and could ultimately be an important factor. But I really think Sun has to totally re-form itself and re-think its entire business strategy.

I don't know whether they're going to be able to do anything with Java. I think they've done the best they could with it. But realistically, it is just very tough to compete with Microsoft in the languages area. That said, Linux has definitely made a dent in what we all thought was untouchable Microsoft territory, and who is to say Solaris can't do the same?

As I said, I don't follow Sun closely. I just think they zigged when they needed to zag. Whether Scott can bring it back, I don't know.
