All the developed countries have universal health care and free education through college. Not us.

Well, that's not really true -- try getting a free education at Cambridge or Oxford or even the Sorbonne.

But yes, they are more heavily subsidized than ours. Which is why foreign students flock to our universities.

And also why foreigners who can afford it come to our country for their health care.

I work with Canadians on a fairly regular basis, and they are almost to a person envious of our health care system.

I suppose we could deteriorate our systems down to the level of other countries if we choose to. But for the life of me (and given my health needs it may come to that,a nd I'm damn glad I have our health system available, because if I had lived in Canada I wouldn't be in the health I am now) I can't see why we would choose to.
