Long ago on either this board, or FADG, there was a discussion of terrorism and the definition thereof. The situation is....the world won't define terrorism.

That is what I was trying to drive home to Kholt. Any discussion of terrorism has to begin with a definition. Her definition is, "My understanding of the term is the creation of terror by targeted violence against civilians to intimidate enemies into concessions."
That does not begin to explain terrorism as I know it.

Pretty little dictionary definitions of terrorism are never stained with the blood of innocent children and women. The dictionary never shows film of a man having his head chopped off.

Reading a sterilized written definition of terrorism is not the same as putting on rubber gloves and picking up the warm and wet body parts of innocents murdered by a terrorist.

kholt is attempting to discuss terrorism in an indoor classroom setting. I want her to move the class outdoors where terrorism can be seen, felt and smelt.

Americans need to define terrorism from their heart on a feeling level. That is the only way we will ever have a chance to really comprehend what it means. After that, the discussion can begin.
