I'm not sure I agree with you.

Like most religious texts, I am sure we can find a passage or two which supports your view, but there are undoubtedly lots of other places where a less militant message can be found.

The radicals simply choose to adopt the more militant aspects of the Koran and ignore the rest.

The moderate Muslims are probably a lot like the Germans during Hitler. They didn't particularly approve his message, didn't like what he did, but were either intimidated or were sufficiently proud of his achievements that they quietly ignored his evil aspects.
