"The Arrogance of Power," by J. William Fulbright .....

.......... was one of the most interesting books I ever read. I read it over 30 years ago. It's so relevent now.

You'd think we'd learned our lessons in Vietnam. I guess not.

One terrorist attack. Granted, HUGE. ... and we've allowed the Middle East's whackos to completely occupy our political agenda, send us to the brink of financial ruin, and have a government become entrenched based on nothing more than fear and paranoia.

This "war on terror" is a joke. Bringing democracy to Iraq is ludicrous. We've allowed politicians in this country to terrorize the populace with a bunch of crap.

This is, I agree, one of the safest places in the world, Chris. You're right on target. If it wasn't, we would have done more to make our airlines safer and we would have pumped some serious dough into the Department of Homeland Security.

I agree with you. And I also think that it is not possible to immunize ourselves from terrorists and still live like a free people. If we can keep them from large scale damage that is a success, IMO.
