What else can be done ? Move far away at some (undefined) point as the crisis developes. Say New Zealand, I hear they are friendly ;-)

I grew up in Florida with some of Cuban refugee friends. The one that got out early got much more money out, even though they took a loss, and got almost all their family out. The later one waited, the less money and fewer family they got out.

On the flip side, I have know survivalists storing gold, guns, food etc, since 1972....their opportunity cost for this, buying gold and guns instead of index funds or GE or T bonds paying 14% (not to mention Intel or houses) has been huge.

However, we now know that there were about 3-4 times where Russia and the US almost went to war during that period.
