Putting poor black kids into private schools will help the individual kids but it won't solve the problem of bad schools. The idea is that the example will force the schools to get better. I fought for it for many years. The problem is the lack of interest by the majority of the voters in the idea. Most of them think their suburban schools are doing fine. They aren't. You need to crack the Unions to make any progress. If Bush is re-elected, this is going to happen. That is why the Unions are the total force behind the Democrats right now.
