How do you see German politics playing out over the next 5-10 years?

It will bump along on a mediocre, below-potential level. Maybe there will be a new government in 2006 unless Schröder manages to pull out another rabbit from his hat. I am not sure yet that Angela Merkel angela-merkel.de , the likely next chancellor, will succeed in structural reforms.

what impact will the German Muslim community play if any?

The majority of them are Turks who have a special role among Muslims. If instability increases it will probably be due to the still prevailing gap between former West and East Germany. $1500 billion subsidies were unable to create a vibrant economy in the former GDR. In some areas the unemployment is 20-30%.

Do you still have the Gastarbeiter program going strong?

Nothing has changed since my #reply-19926081 A small Green Card program for IT employees was launched a few years ago but there were difficulties finding enough applicants.
