Also there will be a big shift in what the media is covering. Iraq is getting hot again, and there are a series of books (Graham, Seymour Hersh, Kitty Kelly) and a DVD (Moore) coming our way.

This will be very favorable to Kerry, as Dumbya will once again have to go into damage control mode.

Scott,

I agree that the first debate will be important. Nobody will pay much attention to the second debate unless one of the candidates commits a gaffe during the first debate. Kerry will go into the first debate as a prohibitive favorite, so all Bush needs to do is survive. Kerry needs to remember the Al Gore experience and refrain from making animal sounds.

Kerry may be able to close in Massachusetts but closing against Bush-Rove is much different. While his battle with William Weld was epic, Weld did not have the enthusiastic backing of the national GOP. George Bush is not Bill Weld.

BTW, several weeks ago you posted a link to a New Yorker article on commercials that are being made by Errol Morris for Moveon.org. I had already read it. It was an interesting article and I cannot find your post. You may want to repost it to Ray. I think that he would be interested in reading it. I do not think that there are going to be a large number of Republicans that are going to switch to Kerry. Bush seems to have solidified his base. The commercials are very narrowly focused and probably not a good use of Moveon.org's money. Fine my me.
