Apparently the Chechneya (sp?) is also an oil based conflict. That's where a lot of oil is, which is one of the main reasons Russia doesn't want to let the region go. Russian has committed horrible attrocities in their country during the war. Yes, ending mankind's dependence on oil would allieve wars for resources all around the world. It's not just an American issue. It's an issue important to all mankind. Of course, those profiting from the bloody oil trade don't want to see it end anytime soon. They can live with innocent deaths and terrorism, it helps their buddies in the defense industries secure funding and profits. Oh the joy!
