"here are the current computer models:"

Still too early to call. In general, they tend to trend to the north this late in the season, so it might not be good for you. But, OTOH, Carla was in October, so we are by no means in the clear...

McMannis was right at the strike point for Francis (Jupiter Inlet). If he stuck around, he is probably, at best, very miserable right now. He hasn't posted since before the storm. Hope he is OK.

Hell, it was miserable on this coast, and I didn't even lose power.

My cousin is near Ocala and hasn't had power since Sat nite.

Right here. Just got power back yesterday at 4 pm. One of the earlier ones. At one point 80% of the houses were without power in Palm Beach county (like 1.2 million people) ...and 100% of Indian River county (Ft. Pierce)

Yes the eye hit just a little north of Jupiter Inlet. Right at Johnathan Dickenson state park. We were in the eye for about 4 hours. Then the other side hit.

The worst part about Frances is that it was a slow moving storm. Pounded us for a couple days. The best thing is that it was a Cat 2 and not a 4. So sustained winds were maybe 96 mph at best with gusts to 120 up in the Vero Beach Area.
Maybe 90-100 mph gusts here in Jupiter.

Most of the damage was trees down, branches down. Minimal roof damage...some major marina damage etc. Ivana Trumps yacht ended up in someone backyard. Had Frances stayed a category 4 it would have been a lot worse...structual damage, devistation.
Worst thing now is a lack of power AND a lack of Gasoline. Before the storm the area was completely out of gasoline. A few tank trucks arrived today but lines were 20-30 cars long trying to get that gas. I did manage to fill up tonight at 10 pm with only a 3 car wait as a tanker showed up at a local BP station. Few stations have gas...tommorrow I expect that situation to get better.

Lowes and Home Depot have been real heros here. Opening without power and bringing in truckloads of genrators and chain saws. Same for the supermarkets opening yesterday but with only dry goods. Maybe tomorrow we get some meat and produce.

The goats have been the power company FLORIDA POWER CORPORATION who couldn't keep the power on even in a 75 mph wind and FEMA who wasted a day trying to figure out where to put distribution points while people in need of ice and water sweltered.

The news media has turned these things into an industry.
The way they report it, it scares the hell out of everyone.
Most of the people here in our over populated area aren't familiar with hurricanes so they panic into a frenzy.
You'd have to experience it to believe it. (I know John has)
