In an act of unlimited devotion and dedication, to the bitter end, an elderly teacher insisted on remaining with his students. He protected them, bandaged their wounds, and with his death, saved their lives.

Helluva brave man. He gave his all for the freedom of others.

And what an outstanding example he set for the others. That is a story that will not be forgotten in Russia.

CB, Who says they don't make heroes anymore? This man should be remembered until the end of time for such valor in the face of death.

“He was just like Janus Korzchak, who accompanied his pupils to Auschwitz,” said one of the students who was saved.

i had to google janus korzak..

fcit.coedu.usf.edu

it would appear, despite the lack of computers, facilities, a bit of overcrowding (does anyone marvel at the number of students in that school?) the russian teachers are doing a very good job educating

i wonder how much money is spent per child in russia compared to the united states

what a superb human being Kanidis was

thank you for posting the story, as far as i can see, the beslan massacre is not getting near the full media attention it deserves, it certainly bears significantly more coverage, than say wall to wall hurricane frances coverage...

perhaps it is perceived as just too disturbing for the targetted audience

The children, and their children's children won't soon forget what this teacher did for them.

What a brave man......a true hero.
