Radical leftists Democrats? Give me a break. A party that has become a much more of a centrist business oriented party under the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) is hardly full of a bunch of radical leftists. When was the last time the "radical Democrats" passed any sort of meaningful social reform legislation? As far as I can tell it was the Family Medical Leave Act, and that was a decade ago. The Republicans have done their best to maintain the status quo for the business elite since they took over Congress in 1995.

Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who happens not to be a member of the Democratic party, but is a socialist, could be characterized as a radical leftist. Why? Because, he proposes programs that would radically alter American society. But, there's the contrast, you've got truely radical leftists like socialists who want to change the nature of our society, but who are for the most part out of power. In contrast, you've got generally pro-business centrist Democrats who are in Congress, who have no interest in really challenging the power structure of this country and making any meaningful mark on society.

Zell Miller is just becoming bitter in his old age and looking for attention. He's free to become a Republican if he has become so conservative in recent years. No reason for him to lambast the Democratic party for not following his lead down the path of blind patriotism and narrow-minded conservatism.
