Think they were expecting more flowers and less bullets and a stronger iraqi response to zarquawi, al sader and former saddamites.

As I said they expected things to be better. Your statement is more detailed but its similar in many wars. Those in charge of at least the side starting the war, and often both sides, think things will be easier and more positive then what actually winds up happening.

I don't think things are really that awful, except in the sense that all wars are awful, but obviously there are problems, some of them serious and others potentially serious.

I don't agree with your firm withdrawal date plan.
