how come Colin Powell doesn't phone up the Emir of Kuwait and demand better behavior from Al Jazeerah or the US will move their bases.

Maybe the next Sec of State will do it.

The Egyptian blogger Big Pharaoh keeps asking how come Colin Powell doesn't phone up the Emir of Kuwait and demand better behavior from Al Jazeerah or the US will move their bases. That's a good question and I wish I knew the answer to it.

I suspect that it has to do with the cost involved of moving the bases and the lack of a good alternative. Placing them in Iraq would not only be a security risk but also be inflammatory.

Besides, I think the Emir I think could care less if the bases were moved. He's as rich as Croesus, and certainly doesn't need the cash.
