OK, here's the deal: Barnes was Speaker of the Texas Legislature at the time, not Lt. Governor. He claims that he got one of his rich Texas buddies to help by getting to a NG Brigadier General who is now conveniently dead. And, yes, Barnes is a famous Texas sleazo. Read the story, as it appeared five years ago, here: washingtonpost.com And, yes, like the Swift Boat vets story, I think this one is going to hurt W even though it was hashed and re-hashed five years ago.
