Yes, I was bailed out of mischief (or a bit worse) more than once by a Captain who was too lazy to go through the drill. The good old days!

I had a lot of friends who were in the Nat'l Guard or the Reserves. Depending on the unit or CO, they got away with a lot of missed time that technically constituted AWOL if someone got really nit-picky. The important thing was that they were ready to go if and when they got called up.

This idea of culling through pay stubs and crumbling documents 35 years after the fact is total BS. The public is more than able to distinguish between a little harmless hi-jinx and the serious derelictions and gaming that have been exposed in Kerry's brief four months of combat duty which he insists is his main qualification for office.
