Why the hurricanes are being talked up?

The idea is to plan for the worst and hope for the best. Charley and Frances caused $ billions in damages, but things could have been much worse.

It was predicted to go northwest and then hit FLA. It didn't.

The computer models indicate various possible paths, some of which include Florida.

Are hurricanes good to sell stuff?

Yes and no. The damage to the Florida citrus industry will probably increase the price of Brazilian orange juice.

Ivan is going to dissipate around Belize.

OK, I guess we don't need the U.S. Weather Service anymore! <g>
