NC, Please dont take this the wrong way but i find the traffic accident analogy offensive. It insults the families of those who have died and demeans the contribution of those who have died. I know that you didnt intend to do that. It was used in vietnam as casualties climbed to 50,000+. As you I too wish GST could dialogue with us rather than be "blinded by ideology as to be incapable of entertaining the position of your opponents and addressing it with pertinence. " Mike

<I am sorry that you think that being in favor of democracy and human rights is ideologically driven idiocy, and that the desire to change the dynamic of the Middle East to favor greater stability and permit more space for reform strikes you as wanton.> There is nothing unique about the goal to see democracy flourish -- that has nothing to do with the defining features of the ideology that brought you the invasion of Iraq. Your desire to see a world in which people enjoy more personal and politcal freedom is no stronger than mine -- not one bit. No, the defining feature of the neocon ideology is the hubris concerning what can be accomplished by the worlds sole "superpower" exercising its military superiority and using its military unilaterally when other means are available and more likely to succeed, or atleast are essential elements if we are to have any hope of achieving success. Militarism is the defining element of the neocons, not liberty or democracy.
