We ignored "character" when we elected Clinton, and got a man who would not face up to our terrorist problems because he was too busy staving off his "Monica" problem. We didn't know that much about Clinton's weaknesses and character defects back in 1992. Nor did we think we had a terrorist problem until 9/11. The major media managed that info then, so generally speaking, we accepted what they gave us. But we did know more in 1996. Looking back, if we'd had the resources we have now (blogs, etc) in 1996, I'd have voted for Dole, who definitely has the better character.
