I tried blowing up the memos and the same words in my Word program - at 500% the letters in the memos are granular but the letters in Word are fairly smooth. Which is probably a function of the document being photocopied.

I still think that the letters are too even along the baseline to be from a typewriter, those tend to be up and down along the baseline.

I believe the military had computers in 1972 but not for writing memos, and certainly not for that kind of script.

If they had computers then, they were well hidden.
No troop unit had them.

I saw my first hand held calculator in 71. And no troop units had them yet.
