The IBM Correcting Selectric II could do subscripting and superscripting.

Trouble is it wasn't introduced until 1973. And the fonts still don't match :-)

It's academic if that's not the kind of typewriter Killian used, and I haven't seen anything definite about that. I have a feeling we'll soon know, but it doesn't sound like the kind of machine that the Texas ANG would have been spending its money on, though.
