AGAIN--you are right...but BUSH AND the Republican controlled Congress are spending more.

IF spending less is your way of dealing with reduced income, then you would be the exception to the operational rule. Why else, with wages stagnant or dropping for alot of people all over the country, are we seeing consumer debt rising to ever higher record levels. Why else are we seeing so many people taking advantage of ARMs, interest-only loans and 100% mortgages, if not to borrow more than they can afford. Bankruptcy is up, foreclosures are up, and Easy Al's answer is to borrow more from SS. So which govt expenses must die, anyway? (The devil's in the details, eh?) Why not start with the health and pension plans for Congress? And what about the govt programs not even on the books?(Pentagon and "intelligence")

Footnote: federal budget rose 3.6% per year under Clinton, over 10% per year under Bush.
