The sudden intensification of Charley was known 12 hours ahead of time.... You got a scoop there, Dude. I watched Charley closely and I saw only one local TV Weatherman say it was possible for "Charley to be a Cat 4 before making land fall."

In the subsequent days all the National Weather guys said in various interviews that they were shocked by the quick jump from 2 to 4.
