Specialized print balls. You know, something that IBM advertised? It wasn't even particularly expensive...

Sorry, they weren't available. Proportional spacing was available, but a VERY rare feature. But there was no proportional spaced selectric ball that also had the specific superscripts until after this document was purportedly created. I'm fairly confident of this.

Are you, by any chance, an Eric Von Danniken enthusiasts?

Nope. I just had occasion, in grad school, to work on a project interfacing a selectric to an early homebrew computer, so I know a little (not a huge amount) about selectrics.

Sure, horizontal cursors can be done. But they are a PITA. Anybody that is going to that degree of detail, isn't going to miss that superscripts could only be done with specialized print balls. But you probably knew that...

Its amazing how this really has gotten them worked up.........same over at the Bush thread........they are beside themselves. I think they really do believe that Bush is a minor god.

Are you, by any chance, an Eric Von Danniken enthusiasts?

So you think Alien/Gods did the alleged forgeries?! <g>

Nope. While proportional spacing was available at the time, there were no selectric balls that contain the superscript characters that appeared in the document, at least not that I ever saw (I think you could find a SYMBOL ball that had the digits in super- and subscript). Proportional spacing was exceptionally rare, as were the SYMBOL balls.

Nope. I just had occasion in grad school to work on a project interfacing a selectric to one of the early homebrew computers; as a result I know a LITTLE (not a lot) about selectrics.

I don't believe anyone will be able to produce a selectric ball that could have produced the documents. Perhaps I'll turn out to be wrong about this, but I don't think so.

Jello,

Re: "Specialized print balls. You know, something that IBM advertised?"

So not only did Kerry want the military to fight with spitballs, he also
authorized specialized "print balls". <ggg>
