Chris, what happened in 1972 to make the Selectric proportionally spaced? I don't remember ANY plain jane Selectric-correcting or otherwise--having that feature.

I do remember the IBM Selectric Memory Writer and have been waxing euphoric about it all day. <g> It came along in 1974 and had a hybrid proportional spacing feature, that being it could be made to right justify on playback but left chunks of space between words and letters.

All in all, a very fine machine it was. I LOVED mine and sometimes wish I'd never sold it. - Holly
