It's a pretty concise book. It doesn't take long to read.

I'm all for defense, but the U.S. has gone from a defensive mode, to an offensive mode over the past decade, since the Soviet Union collapsed. The Soviet Union, while a menance, did keep us from getting too zealous. Like we'd attack Iraq with the Russian Bear standing behind them?!?

One of the terrible ironies of our current militarism and empire building, is that it has left our homeland defenses much weaker than they should be. Our response to 9/11/01 was pathetic when considering all the money were pissed away on defense. Also, how is it that we can keep a border like N/S Korea relatively secure, but we can't even come close to securing our own border with Mexico. Defense begins at home, we've totally lost sight of this.
