The Vietnamese were attempting to end the colonial division of their country -- they were fighting to be free of foreign domination -- free from the French and then free from us. The Vietnamese fought for their freedom and they won despite the millions of Vietnamese we killed. Oddly enough, Americans now travel safely and freely in all of Vietnam, enjoying life as tourists in a unified country. They don't shoot at us and we don't bomb them and burn their villages or turn their cities into brothels -- we eat together, talk together, laugh together, do business together.
