IMO, Rather needs to go. I doubt that will happen, however.

This is another case where watching the process will be as interesting as the outcome. Rather has decided to stonewall. CBS is backing him up while they watch and wait to see if he can survive the outcry. You remember that this took three weeks with the the Blair case.

Now the question is, will the media "pack" and go after him, or will they let it die after a couple of news cycles? We know that the NYT is in coverup mode. They and and AP, which were both in on this "surprise," don't want to be implicated in the fallout.

FOX will go all out and get some experts to authenticate the forgery. When they have that, they can go after Rather. Will the others join in? TWT. Going to be a great sidebar for the next few weeks.

Maybe they can replace him with Connie Chung
Did he not have something to do with sacking her.
