"Whether it is the people of Spain and the Phillipines or the leadership of these countries, their pulling out based on a death threat and attack in Madrid, caused the hostages to die, 12 from Nepal alone, yeah well they are just Sherpas, don't really count do they Ralph. If they had been resolute then the other hostages might be alive today." That is pure speculation and you know it. Of course Sherpas count, but so do the innocent Iraqi's. I have read accounts between 12,000 and 37,000, I'm not sure anyone knows the correct number, but throw out the high and low and there are probably at least 20,000. Were they all insurgents and terrorists, or were some fighting to protect their homeland and rape of their natural resources? Were some fighting for vengeance because of their mutilated families? How many were women and kids? We have all seen the pictures of the young boy who wanted to die because he had no arms. How many innocents this week alone? Yes it is sad that 12 Sherpas were killed, but they knew, or should have, about the obvious danger of going there to earn a living, and clearly, their purpose for being there was only that. The so-called "collateral damage" had no such choice. This is Iraqi Freedom? "I almost wish Canada to get a terrorist attack to wake up the Liberal lefties that so populate our country. How about the Canadian Open this weekend?" Too sad a comment to deserve a reply. I'm being polite, my wife thinks your comment disgusting. "As for Costa Rica most intelligent people know that they do not have an army period so they have no one in Iraq anyway. Why did not Costa Rica ask for their name to be removed from this your so called coalition of idiots one year ago, why now?" Why then were they included in the "Coalition of the Willing" in the first place? Obviously a political move that increased the numbers. Perhaps they want out now because they are tired and ashamed of the country being used for what is increasingly obvious as a lost cause? None of the original reasons for going to war are valid today, but they do have new ones don't they? <ng> "Canada is planning to allow Al Jazeera on our cable networks and not FOX. I've never watched Bill O'reilly , probably a breath of fresh air after our unctuous Peter Mansbridge and the CBC. At least allow us the freedom to get alternative opinions and viewpoints, and not censor what we can see. " I think that is exactly what they are doing. In my opinion Fox news is just an extension of the white house press office, another outlet for the talking points. The US media by design, or due to pressure has failed to give a balanced coverage of the war....remember Jessica? The US has shut down media outlets in Iraq and blocked open coverage at every opportunity, why do you thing reporters were embedded? I agree we should have the freedom to get alternative opinions and viewpoints, I'll take Al Jazeera. I really hate these discussions on investing threads, but I didn't start it, and some comments cannot go unchallenged.
