I didn't like him but because of his lead-by-polls attitude.

That is democracy at it's purest form.

Scientific studies have shown that large group samples are the best predictors for successful policies.

A single-minded zealot gets you into Iraqi quagmires.

A lot of us think Bush is using the same kind of control techniques that Hitler used in his rise to power. It's extremely disturbing to see that it CAN happen here. I can't predict the future, but I fear a Bush that isn't worried about re-election, and has effective control of all the branches of government. I think this election could be the most important in my lifetime. America has severe economic problems, and a military 10 times larger than anyone else - we need sanity in charge.

I think your current "read" of the situation, while you describe it as "venting" is an accurate take of where we really are.

Namaste!

Wow, that's a great post. I thought Rush was eloquent and insightful with his observations about LA run amok after the Rodney King trial in the early 90s. He did make sense once upon a time. I voted for Perot in '96. We vote by mail in OR. In 2000, I sent in my vote for Gore a week before the election. On election day, I changed my mind. But those were the days when I trusted the Constitution would always prevail over all, and that war was inconceivable. Who knew. Apparently Bush and his people did.

As a so-called "Bush-hater", I don't understand why Clinton-hating and now Kerry-hating, and of course, Ted Kennedy bashing and hating is okay.

I would characterize Ashcroft, Bush, Cheney and Delay team as the ABCD's of beginning of end of civil liberties as we know. OOoh, that's a good one. I never thought of Delay. :) Let's hope they don't get back in.

btw, you may already know that Arnold is in Chevron's pocket. He lied about his life history in his convention speech. I'm sure there were some well-intentioned people who, after careful thought, voted for him. I think others can't see beyond the shiney exterior and porcelain -capped smile. They equate Arnold, the man, now governor, with the characters he's portrayed. He sure plays into that.

Congratulations on becoming a citizen and a discerning one, a good one who cares about your country. :)
