I still have doubts that you understand empathy.

Sometimes it is parabled as "walk a mile in their shoes". That doesn't just mean you just try to channel their emotions, but you observe whether the gestalt of the explanation is consistent.

It's true that a consistent and plausible explanation does not guarantee that the explanation is the real and absolute truth, but the process does let you weed out most of the falsepaths.
