They knew how to adjust the characters so that they don't all come down to the same baseline, but they didn't know how to disable superscripting? And despite going to great lengths to mimic a typewriter, they missed the superscripting? I guess they went back and modified the log entry from 1968 that shows superscripting also...

You could not have created the superscript even if ... But there was no superscript on the document which I referenced: cbsnews.com That's the point. If it were WORD it would have made the subject line and the first line of the memo a superscript. As you say, anyone who knew enough to keep the "1st" from superscript would have known enough to change to some other font and would have known to be careful of the font in the first place, perhaps use an old remington typewriter. TP
