BTW, Rather's witness retracted, said he was misled to believe that the memos were handwritten, only heard the content over the phone, never saw them. Hodges says he said, "well, if he wrote them, that's how he felt."

Oh, sweet. Hodges was their "extra mile", wasn't he? So, CBS has the memos, one retracting witness, and one handwriting expert (for hire), who examined photocopies. They also talked to the widow and son, but didn't use them because their stories didn't support the anti-Bush charges. They also did not interview other potential witnesses, since they were likely to be pro-Bush.

Is this, ahem, the total of their "evidence" for this story?

It does look like ABC News is on the story. Schadenfreude trumps all.
