Like many here, I used the "contact us" link to try and jog CBS' collective conscience.

I also thought everyone should know that by electing GWB, you can help the victims of the Russian school siege. <g>

Czech doc bets fortune on Bush, to help Russian siege victims

Fri Sep 10, 2:53 PM ET

PRAGUE (AFP) - A Czech doctor has reportedly bet a record one million koruna (31,500 euros) on a re-election victory by US President George W. Bush (news - web sites), and vowed to donate a third of any winnings to victims of the Russian school siege.

Zdenek Kaplan, 57, has split his wager, which according to the local daily Dnes is a Czech national record for a political event, between three agencies.

If Bush beats his Democratic rival John Kerry (news - web sites) in November's US presidential vote, Kaplan stands to win 1.5 million koruna.

"I believe in my lucky star," he told Dnes. "If Kerry wins? I'll be sad as then I won't have any money to help the people of Beslan. But he won't."

At least 336 people, nearly half of them children, as well as more than 30 gunmen died last week during a three-day hostage-taking at a school in Beslan, southern Russia, which ended in carnage.
