Elected by a democracy with no bounds. With no bounds a democracy quickly becomes a mob. Factionalism will always prevail. Following polls will produce the same results.

That's why we are supposed to have a republic and why we should be electing electors and not presidents and why we used to have a senate appointed by the state governments and why the federal government was forbidden to directly tax individuals and ... But we have of that little left.
