Jay: Congrats on your imminent parenthood. My kids certainly changed my focus, though gradually at first. With the benefit of a few years of hindsight now, this is just as well, as the effort to force the world to conform to one's own requirements is bound to fail, long term. This week-end's task is completing an elaborate treehouse for my 6 year old daughter. Far more rewarding than chasing transitory status. I did find time this summer to enter my first aerobatics competition, which proved to be yet another humbling experience, as I botched the first maneuver, a 1-turn spin to a vertical downline, which pretty much trashed the score for my entire sequence. Fun, though. The experience of flight is for me a sublime benefit of a serendipitous birth in the late 20th Century. Oh and btw, my primary supplier tells me that the power shortage has eased considerably with the arrival of cooler weather in Wuxi. Compulsory shutdowns are down to one day a week.

Jay, I've lurked this thread on and off but this is the first time I've noticed that you are about to become a father. Many, many heartfelt congratulations. The best thing you will have ever done. You will undoubtedly be a superb father. The youngster will be born humming Mozart melodies while simultaneously calculating differential risks on multiple hedged portfolios in five or six currencies, all while looking at you adoringly thinking about how best to get Daddy to spring for the latest toy.
