"Kerry painted a target on his back with his congressional testimony,"

Yes he did. And the SBVFT to an individual holds those actions against Kerry. It happens. But when people are willing to dismiss all of the documentation because they have this theory that Kerry was behind all of it, so they can reduce it to a difference in viewpoint. Thereby claiming "to be fair, it isn't clear what happened on that day" is disengeneous at best. That smacks mightily of starting out with a theory, coming up with reasons to dismiss the facts that don't fit the theory, and claiming you have reached a conclusion.

An important factor is that all of the men who served directly with Kerry, save one malcontent, back him. That speaks for their personal connection over-coming whatever distaste they likely had over his later actions. If his actions were as dodgey as some claim, they wouldn't have developed that degree of respect for him. Maybe some would have, but probably some wouldn't. In addition, there are some who have come forward on Kerry's side that didn't have the opportunity to develop that sense of personal respect. If it was all a lie, that wouldn't have happened...

John,

Re: "Kerry painted a target on his back with his congressional testimony, and
his political career."

Actually John, his testimony helped his political career in Massachusetts.
Kerry always had a JFK "fetish" ... That's why he wanted to command a Swift
Boat (close to a PT) and he even brought along his "home movie" camera. <ggg>

Make It So,
