"The forgery theory slips in separate explanations for each situation"

It boggles the imagination. Ok, you want to forge a document from the early '70s. You make a first draft, but it just doesn't look right. Took regular for one. two, the pesky superscripts. Ok, so diddle with some random characters moving them slightly up or down to look more authentic. You then take care to use a lowercase 'l' or inserting a space to defeat the automatic superscripting. But darn it, you overlooked a couple. You then Photoshop in a signature, Photoshop in some random dots, print it and then Xerox it several times. Done!

During this whole ordeal, it never once occurs to you to pick up an old typewriter at a garage sale...

Some people are just too smart for their own good.
