If he was a lawyer the equivalent act would be to enter forged documents to either convict someone or defend someone. That is criminal and that lawyer would be disbarred.

You can argue if he is guilty all you want but I know that he is.

Rather, either personally or through his agent, lied to a witness (Hodges) in order to elicit false testimony.

I don't think the fact that neither were sworn under oath would matter, at least not where I practice law.
