Martin just this week ruled out any linkage with energy .... what a gutless dickhead eh .... i always said, thing to do is station a mountie at each cross border tap of oil and gas, and have the PM smile and say in an amicable tone of voice, do you folks want free trade, or doncha

Canada won't try to force the United States to drop 27 percent duties on $4.6 billion of lumber exports by restricting energy shipments, Prime Minister Paul Martin said.

"I don't believe that linkage is the way to a solution," Martin said at a press conference in Kelowna, British Columbia, where he was holding a two-day cabinet meeting.

The trade dispute has cost lumber companies some $3 billion over the last two years.'
