Incumbency in politics is extraordinarily strong in the US now. Bush is an incumbent president with no primary opponent in a time of war on three fronts (Afghanistan, Iraq, Terrorism). Bush should be a shoo-in, hands-down, no question. He should be having a Clinton/Dole type cakewalk. That he isn't shows how well Kerry (an unknown before now and a Senator --not a Governor --- and from Mass --- not the south--no less) is doing. It's pure political hack, analyst blather and corporate media hype. Zogby shows what is basically a dead heat. Zogby also shows that the 12 point post convention bounce was total bs. They took raw data and misinterpreted it to the nth degree...for a reason. They received tremendous attention AND no one will ever remember if they retracted the poll info in the future. Kerry comes to the race with humongous disadvantages. Bush comes to the race with humongous advantages. That they are in a race that's close at all shows how strong Kerry is and how weak Bush is. Bush should have an easy, easy lead from the get go but has had to struggle, lie, cheat, steal and lie some more. This is the Dem problem: relying on FACTS which are irrelevant to the American Public who is fixated on sound bites (accurate or not) AND giving into to media poll blather. The Dems need to whack the Reps upside the head on an hourly basis and worry about accuracy...NEVER. The Reps lie, lie, lie and then lie some more. They have no character, no conscience and no morals. Remember, these are the guys who called McCain: a fag, insane from his Vietnam POW experience, had a baby with a black prostitute and whose wife was a drug addict They also compared Cleland to OBL and claimed that his losing 3 limbs in Vietnam wasn't enough of a sacrifice. The RNC is the essence of pure evil and can't be fought using ANY RULES. Hey! Did North Korea blow up a nuclear bomb or something approximating one? Curious and curiouser.
