Matley was talking about a courtroom situation; Chris was talking about CBS' PR situation. Different rules of evidence apply.

Yes, we know that the memos are laughable fakes. But will that message get out to the public? What will be the verdict of popular opinion? Who knows if popular opinion will even care? They may just say, 'oh, not another Bush/AWOL story! Please, stop with that nonsense already.' Since that would be a sensible reaction imo, I couldn't really quarrel with the judgement, even if I do want to see 60 Minutes get the full embarrassment they deserve for this incredible piece of journalistic incompetence, if not outright fraud.
