>>the Bush campaign does a lousy job of clarifying it.

Motto: if you have to explain, don't bother. Some mud will stick, and that's a fact.

Iraq is going ok, WOT is going ok, economy is going OK, what else does Kerry have?

I do think Bush should fight back against baseless charges but honestly his National Guard service wasn't any great shakes and that can't be changed. He did OK, maybe better than OK, but he wasn't the kind of guy to bring a camera to show what a "hero" he was everywhere he went.

Problem is that the average American (myself included) doesn't know how the military operates and so the Dems can say this stuff and people take it at face value. And the Bush campaign does a lousy job of clarifying it.

Not a problem at all.
Kerry campaign and GW are the only ones talking. Kerry is hiding.
GW is handling this well. Everytime Mcgoofy talks about Vietnam, Kerry has to hide some more and his ratings go down.
I don't think the demos understand that Vets likely control some 100 million votes. Their own 28 million plus spouses and adult kids.
I think they were willing to write off the 2.5 million Nam Vets. That was a huge error.
