Active Duty? LOL, This was the Champagne Unit.

If the typewriter were that expensive they wouldn't have sold any. It was a popular item. Someone is probably trying to confuse it in the reader's mind with their truley expensive typesetting devices.

You are confused. The old IBM Executive was a typebar model made in the 40s and could not have had any of the designs necessary like the Selectric ll.
