Those fonts are copywrited by both name and image and if they started varying them they would lose their legal protection.

Copyrights are not forever. I looked at copyright and patent Law in late 2001, when I wrote my book and invented the "One Minute Fallout Zone Calculator."
In a work created before 1978 the copyright lasts 28 years. For work created in 1978 and beyond it is the life of the author plus 70 years.
