At least now he just retired instead of dying. Yeah, I suppose that when a general retires he loses all his friends and contacts. Yup, that is the way it happens...

I dunno whether or not the National Guard would use a PO box. One thing I do know is that part of Houston is considerably larger than it was in 1973. There used to be a chemical plant across I45 from Ellington, it is all houses there now. It is pretty certain that the zip codes have changed several times since then. But why guess? The Post Office probably has records and likely can tell you if that PO box existed in that zip code at the time.
