shrub deserted.
No legally accredited expert has said they are forgeries. The claim is baseless.
US News and World Report uses a completely different set of documents that also show shrub deserted.
Case closed.

The White House should be silent on the forgeries.

Dan Rather violated a journalistic ethic when he did not ask the WH for comment before airing the story. This is standard practice for investigative journalists when they are doing a negative piece: "We are plannng on releasing this story at 7:00 P.M. -- Do you wish to comment?" Those comments (or "no comment") are then included as part of the story.

We all know why Dan Rather did not follow this journalistic courtesy.

Given his failure to do so at the proper time, the WH should refuse to answer any questions from CBS.

In short, it should now be "f**k you."
